Gruel or not, these last few weeks have been rough going. Promise I’m eating well even with my Nuggets anxieties. A friend with connections to someone who has connections (yeah, I know, but I have good reasons to trust this person and his source) says the Perkins race statements and ensuing firestorm had a very bad impact on Jokic, who was beyond incredulous that playing pro basketball in the USA could bring that level of toxicity. His reaction was serious enough that it threatened everything.
I hate it that I can’t say more. But knowing what I “know,” the letdown makes sense. Needless to say, I have no idea where things stand with Jokic. Also, some of the letdown is easily attributable to the Nuggets having nothing more to prove after the great wins over Memphis and the Clippers.
Can the team bounce back fully? Hope Hope hope. The rotation problems are bad enough, imo, without the rest of this awful situation. Fingers crossed. Mismatched dirty socks each and every game day. Pickaxe swinging and striking blows for the right outcome.
